KPR Engineering (M&E) LTD were contracted to remove existing control equipment and design, build and install a control system that controlled the lock gates, flood gates, sluice gates and junction lock swing bridge and at a later date the lock gates and sluices at Entrance lock all situated at the Cumberland Basin Bristol. The £12m project involved the control of vessels in and out of the city docks as well as maintaining the flood defences to the city, some of the main arterial routes in and out of the city were incorporated and had to be planned out of peak hours to minimise the disruption and consideration was also given to maintain as much of the existing structure and look as it had been previously designed and manufactured by I K Brunel, Thomas Howard, William Jessop and George Hennet to name but a few.

KPR Engineering (M&E) Ltd has designed and installed a distribution and control system which supplies the water for the Fire Service College that trains fire fighters and other emergency services from the UK and all over the world.

We also maintain and update the control system and pumps to ensure reliability for the students which could be learning to tackle fires from aircraft to oil rigs. We are expanding what we can offer the Fire Service College to assist them in reducing the amount of resources by installing energy efficient drives and by controlling the systems more efficiently saving water, gas, electricity and money.
